Course overview

This programme introduces artificial intelligence as it is actually used in healthcare and medical diagnostics: what AI is, how it learns from data, where it supports clinical and administrative work, and where its limits lie.

It is taught entirely online. Each lesson is delivered live by a digital professor, with visual teaching material, a knowledge check and downloadable student notes.

Throughout the programme the principle is constant: AI supports healthcare professionals — it does not diagnose and it does not replace human judgement.

Course objectives

  1. 01Introduce artificial intelligence in plain language, without programming.
  2. 02Explain how AI systems learn from data and where that data comes from.
  3. 03Show where AI is used across healthcare and the diagnostic process.
  4. 04Develop an understanding of patient data, privacy, bias and fairness.
  5. 05Establish human oversight as the basis of responsible decision-making with AI.
