About Prof. Dr. Li Xuan
Prof. Dr. Li Xuan is Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence at ICS AI University, where she provides strategic academic leadership for one of the most ambitious AI-native schools in the world. She leads the School's academic strategy, research portfolio, faculty development, international partnerships, industry engagement, and quality assurance, guiding a global community of scholars, researchers, and students committed to advancing responsible artificial intelligence.
With more than twenty years of experience across higher education, research, and academic governance, Prof. Li Xuan is internationally recognised as a leading scholar in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and AI ethics. Her academic journey spans Asia, Europe, and North America, having held distinguished research and teaching positions at leading universities and research institutes, and having collaborated with public agencies, industry laboratories, and multilateral organisations shaping the global AI agenda.
She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Artificial Intelligence from the National University of Singapore, following a Master of Science in Computer Science from Tsinghua University and a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering from Peking University. She completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Toronto and an Executive Leadership Programme in AI & Innovation at the MIT Sloan School of Management, combining deep technical training with world-class institutional leadership experience.
Prof. Li Xuan's research programme sits at the intersection of foundational AI and human-centred applications. Her contributions to deep learning architectures, large language models, generative AI, computer vision, and trustworthy machine learning have shaped both academic literature and applied practice. She has led more than forty funded research projects, secured over twenty international grants, and authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, twelve books, and thirty-five book chapters, attracting over 22,000 citations and an h-index of 72.
Her leadership philosophy is grounded in academic excellence, ethical responsibility, and international collaboration. She has led multidisciplinary teams in launching new AI programmes, establishing research centres, forging strategic partnerships with universities, government agencies, and technology enterprises, and mentoring the next generation of AI scholars. She has supervised more than forty-five doctoral candidates who now hold academic and industry positions across four continents.
As Dean, Prof. Li Xuan is committed to positioning the School of Artificial Intelligence as a globally recognised centre for responsible AI education and research. She champions transparent governance, rigorous academic standards, and inclusive learning experiences, while advancing curricula that integrate technical mastery with ethics, policy, and human-centred design. Under her leadership, the School continues to expand its programme portfolio, research centres, industry partnerships, and international student community.
Prof. Li Xuan has served on international advisory boards, accreditation panels, and expert committees on artificial intelligence, higher education, and research policy. She is a Senior Member of IEEE and an active member of ACM, AAAI, AIS, and the International Association for AI Ethics. She has delivered more than eighty invited keynotes at leading academic conferences, policy forums, and industry summits, and is a frequent contributor to global conversations on the responsible development of AI.
